Work, Work, Work

Dad was serious when he said that we were going to be busy in Deltaville. Today we filled up our fuel tanks, rinsed off the deck, and did a whole lot of other stuff. And this is only when we are in the water! We’ll be winterizing the boat, and that will take a lot of work. A lot of work. Not only that, but we need to climb a ladder to get on the boat. I can not wait to get back home.

The bug spray problem

I am aware of the fact that I have not posted on this blog for a long
time. But, better late then never. Because our old cutter bug spray
from home ran out, we got some more. However, Cutter came out with
Cutter Advanced. And unlike the old cutter that has deet in it, this
new kind has a chemical called Picardin in it. It was cheap, and
supposedly better, so we got it. But when we used it, it didn't work!
Well, it worked a little. But it didn't work well enough. So, we went
back to the store on our next run (which happened to be the next day)
we got another kind with deet and aloe in it, and also some after bite
just in case THAT bug spray didn't work. So then, when we used the
deet and aloe bug spray, THE PUMP DIDN'T WORK! It just squirted a few
pathetic drops of bug spray that rolled down the bottle! So, what are
we going to do, huh?

Swimming upwind

Swimming upwind is not very easy at all. In fact, It is a virtually an impossible task. On almost every breath, you inhale water. So you stop, spluttering, thinking that you are very stupid to do that. I happens all the time to me. It doesn't help that I usually swim in salt water, so you inhale seawater. The crawl stroke is best for swimming upwind. You breath to the side instead of the front. When you swim with a mask and snorkel, you overcome this problem.
